- Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has been suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency after testing positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, following a drugs test in Mallorca in June.
- Former world No 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas stated that the positive test result was “pretty much expected” and claimed he was already aware of Kyrgios's off-court behaviour from others on the tour prior to the official announcement.
- Kyrgios apologised to fans and sponsors for his actions, describing the positive test as a “huge mistake” while explaining that severe injury struggles had taken a heavy physical and mental toll on him.
- The Australian athlete announced he is stepping away from public life and social media for 28 days to focus on getting himself right following the ITIA suspension.
