Usia, Islamic NGOs object to Israel Houghton concert

LAHAD DATU: United Sabah Islamic Association (Usia) and Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sabah have objected to the ‘Israel & New Breed – Till The Whole World Knows Tour 2026’ concert scheduled at Hakka Hall, Kota Kinabalu, on Oct 22.

Usia Tungku division secretary Mohd Hashim Mohd Hassan said the objection concerned international artiste Israel Houghton’s alleged public stance on Israel and the Israel-Palestine conflict.

He said the organisations had lodged a police report at the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters on Tuesday and urged the relevant authorities to review the concert’s approval, permits and arrangements.

Mohd Hashim stressed that the objection was not directed at any religion or race, adding that the organisations rejected hatred towards any group based on religion or race.

Meanwhile, State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun previously said police had received two reports concerning the concert and were monitoring developments while recording statements from several parties.
