
MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas advanced to the second phase of the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball stepladder semifinals after ousting Adamson University, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 at the Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.
Angge Poyos fired 17 points including the through block clincher as the Tigresses staved off elimination for the second time.
Poyos added eight digs and seven receptions for UST which needed a playoff for No. 4 win against FEU to forge a knockout match against the No. 3 seed Lady Falcons.
The Tigresses will face the defending champs National University Lady Bulldogs in the final phase of the semis.
The winner advances to the Finals to face the undefeated De La Salle Lady Spikers.
