A video recently went viral showing a man hitting and even kicking a group of boys, who are allegedly students of a tahfiz school in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
In the now-deleted clip, the man, wearing a t-shirt of the tahfiz school, could be seen scolding the students while striking them with his helmet, in what looks to be the front of a cybercafe.
“Is he trying to be an ustaz or a gangster?”
The video has since been reshared and has drawn attention from numerous outraged netizens, including Malaysian rapper @capricedaddycap.
In an Instagram post, Caprice urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate the matter, captioning his post with,
“Hi PDRM, please check this out, is this guy trying to be an ustaz or a gangster?”
While it’s still unclear why the young men were hit, a netizen claimed the incident happened after the students, who were under the man’s care, left their school without permission. Furthermore, in one longer version of the video that circulated online, one of the boys can be seen smoking a cigarette.
“Before commenting, you should know the full story. All the students were under his responsibility, and they were outside the madrasah without his knowledge at around midnight.”

Other netizens flooded the comments section with their thoughts and reactions.
“Does the ustaz realise that the place is under CCTV surveillance?”
“I’ve already watched the full video. The man kept hitting the students’ heads, didn’t he realise it could be fatal? Was he not thinking at all while he was angry?”
“He assaulted them using a blunt weapon. What’s the maximum jail sentence for this? His intent looked like he was trying to kill someone. Lock him up for a long time; he deserves it.”
“He went overboard, hitting them with a helmet. If you have a short temper, don’t be an ustaz.”
