SHAH ALAM – South Korean pop sensation Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) has taken the world by storm with their highly-anticipated Arirang World Tour, but the group is now navigating health challenges as members, Kim Tae-hyung or most well known as V and Jeon Jungkook share their recent struggles with fans.
During a livestream following the band’s performances in Baltimore, Maryland, 30-year-old V disclosed for the first time that he has been receiving treatment for hearing loss in his right ear.
He revealed that the issue began roughly two and a half years ago, estimating that whilst his left ear functions at full capacity, his right ear is operating at only about 30 per cent.
V explained that the condition worsened during his 18-month mandatory military service, which he completed between December 2023 and June 2025.
Admitting that he initially dismissed the problem as a test of mental endurance, he reassured fans that he is now taking medication and attending regular hospital appointments to manage his health.
Joined by bandmate Jungkook during the broadcast, the group faced further concern as the younger vocalist detailed his own physical struggles on stage.
Jungkook shared that he has been managing a painful shin injury throughout the tour and is currently on the verge of developing a stress fracture, emphasising that careful management will be crucial to ensure he can continue performing.

The news comes as the global icons celebrate the band reunited as a full seven-member lineup following a hiatus for compulsory military service which had temporarily paused their group activities since 2022.
Having kicked off their global tour in South Korea in April, the seven-member sensation is set to continue their grueling schedule in the upcoming months, bringing their show to major international cities including Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur Bangkok, Sydney, and Hong Kong.
