Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian announced Wednesday the distribution of fuel subsidy to qualified drivers and delivery riders under the "Tulong sa Umiigting na Gastusin at Obligasyon Natin" program.
He added that the city government has earmarked P13,401,000 for the initiative.
During the initial payout, more than 4,200 members of tricycle operators and drivers' associations received ₱1,000 each in fuel assistance.
“I am thankful for the swift action of the city council under the leadership of its presiding officer, Vice Mayor Marlon Alejandrino, for the enactment of the measure amid ongoing oil price crisis,” Gatchalian said.
"On behalf of the Valenzuela City government, we cannot simply do nothing. We refuse to let our fellow Valenzuelanos suffer alone through this crisis,” he added.
