Cedric van der Gun feels Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is too laid back in games.

The former Ajax and Swansea City winger is critical of the Holland captain.

"At the age of 32, it is not self-evident that you are still really at the top," Van der Gun said on Viaplay. "Because you see a lot of boys really decline at the age of 32.

"But I think he has all the conditions to still be at that level.

"But I always have the feeling that he is a bit too lazy at times. Especially when walking. He is so strong and fast...

"Aston Villa sidelines the opponent eighty times. There you see everything and everyone reacting at the same time.

"Van Dijk decides to step himself. He doesn't know at all whether Joe Gomez is in the line. He only steps because he thinks: Yes, then I don't actually have to run those 15, 20 metres. While I think: Why would you not run those 15 metres if you are so strong and fast? "
