
PENAMPANG: A van driver died after the vehicle crashed into 100 metres of bushes at the Jalan Papar Lama roadside on Saturday.
District police were alerted to the incident behind the Lok Kawi Army Camp at 5.11pm.
Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the 35-year-old victim succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by on-scene medical officers.
"An 18-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hospital Queen Elizabeth for further treatment.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact investigating officer Insp Saparia Ladoni at 019-8095133," he said in a statement.
