Kota Kinabalu: The PacifiCity Buyers Association, formed by a group of buyers, has lodged another police report calling for a thorough investigation into vandalism of their newly completed properties at Pacific Heights @ PacifiCity in Likas Bay.

The estimated repair cost, including ceilings, glass windows, and elevators, is a staggering RM49 million.

The buyers plan to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and federal Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming for government assistance.

They hope to get assistance from the allocation of RM1 billion in the Federal Budget for next year to rescue abandoned development projects.

The meeting was attended by the project’s consultants and representatives from the PacifiCity Buyers Association, including Dato’ Seri Winston Liaw, Datuk Bolkiah Ismail, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai and Dr Constance Liew.

The Ministry, having collected the bank guarantee from the Sabah Development Bank (SDB), is preparing to restart the project and has requested banks to suspend interest collection.

Winston said before the vandalism, they had conducted a site inspection and confirmed 98 per cent completion of the building.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the developer had not applied for a bridging loan from SDB, thus making sales and purchase agreements and housing loan agreements invalid.

Consequently, all funds must be returned to the buyers.

Dr Constance urged the 79 remaining buyers to join the association, emphasising the need for collective efforts to address the delayed project.

They have already reached out to more than 70 condominium buyers and 50 shopping mall unit buyers.
