Kota Marudu District Police Chief Supt Simiun Lomudin said the victim was travelling in a Mitsubishi Mirage from Kanibongan towards Kampung Narandang.

He said the victim lost control while passing through a dark stretch of gravel road and a wooden bridge, causing the car to skid on the bridge.

“The victim is believed to have attempted to get out of the vehicle but fell beneath the bridge,” he said.

He was pronounced dead at 2.45am at the scene.
