A verdict is expected on Monday in the high-profile rape trial of Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Høiby faces 40 charges, including four counts of rape, several instances of domestic violence, violations of a restraining order, and drug and traffic offences.
The 29-year-old will not be present in court for the sentencing due to health reasons and is expected to follow the proceedings via video link from prison.
Høiby's trial, which ran from early February to mid-March, shocked Norway and drew global media attention.
Several ex-girlfriends, as well as women that he is alleged to have abused while they were asleep, testified against Høiby in court, shedding light on the private life of Mette-Marit’s eldest child.
Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of seven years and seven months in prison for the offences.
Høiby is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, heir to the Norwegian throne, but he holds no title and is not an official member of the royal household.
