MANILA, Philippines — The Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite, will take center stage as the venue for the inaugural Sun Life Bike and Run on Sunday (Nov. 8), bringing together cyclists, runners and families for a day of fitness, fun and community engagement.
Known for hosting major sporting competitions, including events during the Southeast Asian Games and IRONKIDS, the sports complex provides an ideal setting for an event that promotes active recreation and encourages more Filipinos to embrace healthier lifestyles.
Beyond giving participants an opportunity to test their endurance, the event is expected to benefit Imus and nearby communities by highlighting the importance of accessible spaces for physical activity. By bringing together people of different ages and fitness levels, it also seeks to strengthen community ties and inspire the younger generation to make movement part of their daily lives.
The event will feature 60-km and 45-km bike rides for cycling enthusiasts seeking a longer challenge, alongside a 15-km ride for those who prefer a shorter route. Kids' rides and a family ride will give younger participants and their loved ones a chance to enjoy cycling together, while a 5-km run will welcome those who prefer running.
Organized by Sunrise Events, Inc., the event aims to make physical activity an enjoyable shared experience, encouraging participants to spend time outdoors, stay active and build healthier habits with friends and family.
Registration is ongoing. For details, visit sunlife.cycleph.com. Race kits may be claimed on Nov. 5 and 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the second floor of One Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City.
The inaugural event builds on Sun Life's longstanding commitment to health and wellness, an advocacy that complements its mission of helping Filipinos achieve financial security. In 2016, the company launched Sun Life Cycle PH, using cycling as a platform to promote healthier living and engage communities beyond traditional financial services.
The Sun Life Bike and Run marks the next phase of this initiative, broadening its reach beyond cycling to welcome runners, children and families into a shared celebration of active living and overall well-being.
As the country's first and longest-standing life insurer, Sun Life continues to champion the connection between health and wealth, recognizing that a fulfilling life depends not only on financial security but also on good health, physical activity and meaningful relationships.
Through the Sun Life Bike and Run, the company hopes to bring this philosophy to life, inspiring more Filipinos to take steps toward healthier lifestyles – one pedal stroke, one stride and one family outing at a time. TMT
