MANGGATAL: Very few housewives are being protected by the Social Security Organisation (Socso) despite a scheme available for them.
A total of 38,284 housewives in Sabah are eligible to be protected under Socso's Housewives’ Social Security Scheme (HSSS), however, only 92 housewives have registered for the scheme as of Dec 27.
To this end, Deputy Human Resource Minister Mustapha Sakmud called on all eligible housewives to register and contribute to HSSR which provides them with protection against accidents, illnesses and deaths related to household management.
HSSS was launched by Socso on Dec 1 under the provisions of the Housewives' Social Security Act 2022 (Act 838).
