
Kota Kinabalu: Sabahan veteran shuttlers captured three gold medals in the badminton event at the Asia Pacific Masters Games held in May in Jeonbuk, South Korea.
The first gold came from the team event through Datuk Anthony Linggian and Bruni Garib in the opening men’s doubles, followed by the women doubles pair of Mok Yuet Ming/Lung Woon King and Bruni/Ann Chow Pik Yuet in the mixed doubles.
The second gold came from Bruni and Anthony again in the men’s doubles (70) after their Australian opponents were forced to retire due to injury with the Sabah duo leading 21-13, 11-4 in the final.
The third gold was won by Bruni in the men’s singles event when he easily defeated another Australian player in straight sets 21-11, 21-3. More than 14,000 athletes from 71 countries took part in the multi-sports event with 26 games staged over nine days.

Bruni also captured gold medals in the singles in both tournaments.
