Bersatu has dismissed Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and suspended Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal after finding them guilty of violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct. The disciplinary board, which convened on October 8, also expelled four division chiefs — Azrudin Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur), and Isa Saidi (Ampang) — in a sweeping disciplinary action against several senior members.

The move follows internal complaints alleging that the group was involved in a “statutory declaration movement” purportedly aimed at unseating Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. They were also accused of participating in a recent disturbance during an official party event, further straining unity within the party’s leadership ranks.

According to a statement issued by Bersatu’s disciplinary board, the decision came after a detailed investigation into written complaints lodged by party members. The board stated that all respondents were summoned to appear before it on October 8 to present their defense before a verdict was reached.

The board emphasised that the disciplinary measures were carried out independently and in full compliance with the party’s internal procedures. It stressed that no external influence was involved in the decision-making process, adding that the conclusions were based solely on the evidence and testimonies presented during the inquiry.

In its statement, the board urged all Bersatu members to uphold the party’s constitution and adhere strictly to its code of ethics, warning that discipline and loyalty were essential to maintaining the organisation’s integrity and reputation.

Both Wan Saiful and Wan Fayhsal have been given 14 days to appeal the ruling. The outcome of their potential appeals could determine whether they retain any role within the party moving forward, though their current positions as Members of Parliament remain unaffected.

The disciplinary action marks a significant development within Bersatu, which has been grappling with growing internal tensions and questions over loyalty among some of its members.

The latest move underscores Bersatu’s ongoing effort to project stability and unity as it navigates an increasingly competitive political landscape.
