Sepang Deputy Chief Police, Superintendent G K Shan Gopal confirmed the arrest and said Abdul was released on bail this morning (February 18) but not his wife.

“His wife, who is around 50 years old has been detained by Immigration under the Immigration Act 1959/63,” Shan Gopal said.

Shan Gopal said Abdul’s wife was detained for having an expired travel document

Despite Abdul’s release, PDRM said that the case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Statements from 7 witnesses had also been recorded.

Earlier, Abdul sparked controversy after the signage containing a racial slur displayed at his stall in Kota Warisan, Sepang went viral. The racial slur read,

“Sorry, we don’t sell this corn to k*l*ng.”
