A beach in Sabah was found to be charging visitors for sitting at the tables and chairs that were set up along the beach.
The MurMur_travel_n_tour TikTok page recently shared a video showcasing this situation at the Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu.
They wrote, “No comment. You want to watch the sunset, right? Then you’ll have to sacrifice a little bit.”
In their video, a bunch of tables with chairs could be seen along the Tanjung Aru Beach, near where vendors have set up stalls. Written on the tables are the table numbers and the price to sit at the tables, which range from RM15 for a table of 4 to RM20 for a table of 6.
Rather than paying for the tables, people were obviously choosing to sit on the ground.
Considering the high prices to only sit at the tables, Malaysians shared that they would rather bring their own foldable chairs and tables should they ever visit Tanjung Aru Beach.
“The prices are insane! Can the tables be eaten?”
“The prices of the tables are more expensive than food.”
“I would just bring along camping chairs and tables.”
“Let’s just sit on the sand.”
