Celebrate 50 years of the Volkswagen Golf GTI here in Malaysia with unique style
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially launched the Golf GTI Edition 50, celebrating 50 years of the iconic Golf series. Priced at RM267,990, this special edition model comes with Volkswagen’s Assurance Package (VAP), which includes 5 years of maintenance, an unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance.
The GTI Edition 50 is a tribute to the Golf’s legacy and comes adorned with a range of unique accessories. It features a distinctive Oettinger body kit, which includes a sleek black front spoiler, a black roof spoiler, and a diffuser that enhance both style and performance.
Moreover, complementing the body kit are 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ light alloy wheels finished in high-gloss black, along with “GTI” Dynamic wheel hub caps and VW Design aluminium valve caps. The vehicle also sports black side mirror caps, exclusive Edition 50 emblems, and sporty side decorative films inspired by the signature GTI honeycomb pattern. 
The exterior is further distinguished by “Edition 50” VW Tint and “50” emblems on both B-pillars. Inside, the Golf GTI Edition 50 boasts several exclusive touches. It features a “50” emblem on the multi-function sport steering wheel, “Edition 50” aluminium side scuff plates, and “Edition 50” front carpet mats, all contributing to its unique identity.
On top of that, this special edition is available in two elegant colour options, namely Oryx White and Moonstone Grey. The Golf GTI Edition 50 maintains the exhilarating performance of the standard GTI, powered by a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission. This setup delivers 245PS and 370Nm of torque. 
It also features a 10-speaker, 480-watt Harman Kardon premium sound system, a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
In terms of safety, the GTI Edition 50 is equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology, including advanced driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and a Head-up Display.
The Golf GTI has been synonymous with sporty driving pleasure since its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975. Nearly five decades and eight generations later, the GTI continues to be one of the most cherished hatchbacks globally. The GTI Edition 50 will be on display at the Golf Fan Fest on 24 August 2024, at the North Paddock of Sepang International Circuit, and will be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships from 17 August 2024.
