The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is now officially launched in Malaysia from RM238,574 OTR, with 265PS, 400Nm, AWD and seven seats.
VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially launched the Tayron R-Line, completing the local line-up of its new seven-seat SUV after the Tayron Elegance went on sale last month. Like the Tayron Elegance, the R-Line is locally assembled (CKD) at Volkswagen’s plant in Pekan, Pahang.
The range-topping R-Line is priced at RM238,574 on-the-road without insurance. With the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), which adds five years of free maintenance, a five-year manufacturer warranty and five years of roadside assistance, the price rises to RM250,074 on-the-road without insurance.
Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI four-cylinder petrol engine producing 265PS and 400Nm, paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
That is a sizeable step up from the Tayron Elegance, which uses a 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid powertrain producing 150PS and 250Nm, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed DSG.
The R-Line also receives Dynamic Chassis Control Pro (DCC Pro), which uses electronically controlled two-valve dampers to continuously adjust the suspension according to road conditions and driving style.
Visually, it gets a sportier R-Line exterior treatment along with IQ.Light HD Matrix headlights, illuminated Volkswagen badges at the front and rear, and 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals.
Inside, the seven-seat SUV features Varenna leather ergoActive Plus front seats with 12-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage functions. The R-Line also upgrades to a 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system running Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 software, accompanied by a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, head-up display and Harman Kardon sound system with 10 speakers plus a subwoofer.
Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite is standard, bringing features including adaptive cruise control, Travel Assist, Lane Assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, Emergency Assist and Park Assist Plus. Nine airbags are also fitted.
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will be available for viewing at authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide from August 13, while both Tayron variants are also being displayed at the Volkswagen Tour at 1 Utama Shopping Centre until August 31.
