Malaysian Advancement Party (MAP) President P. Waytha Moorthy reminded the Indians in the country and the Kuala Kubu Baru Indian voters not to be fooled.

“Indians, in particular, should not be continuously duped into the false feeling of being the Kingmaker in elections. Every election season, the Indians will be showered with the feel-good opium." For example, they made false promises and praised how Indians as Kingmakers would be the natural agents for “Change,” he said in a statement.

For almost twenty years, he added, DAP, PKR, and Amanah have given the impression that everything will be sorted out once Anwar Ibrahim becomes PM.

These Pakatan leaders who rode on voters were told they were the Kingmakers, referring to them as the decision-makers in electing leaders in a General Election.

“Don't fall for the 'feel-good opium' of being a Kingmaker. It's time to see through the facade and demand better for our community,” said Waytha Moorthy, the founder of Hindraf.

In 2007, the Hindraf movement brought about awareness of the plight of the Indian community, which was shortchanged by appointing weak Indian leaders who did not dare stand up for Indian rights.

“Using Indians as cheap labour and free vote banks to fulfil their political agenda must stop. Sadly the Indians

will only be visible to them during election seasons and after that forgotten,” stressed Waytha Moorthy.

Waytha Moorthy strongly urged the Indian community to send a clear message to DAP, PKR, Amanah, and PN that their votes should not be taken for granted.

He stressed the importance of Indians looking for and supporting credible Indian leaders who can truly represent their interests.

“For years, the voiceless Malaysian Indian poor faced many problems and barriers through institutionalised marginalisation and discrimination. Other minorities have also been voiceless without effective political representation; therefore, MAP was born,” said Hindraf founder and former Unity Minister Waytha Moorthy.

Hindraf has had a significant impact on the political landscape of Malaysia by staging the 2007 Hindraf rally.

As a result, five Indian leaders were arrested and detained without trial under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
