The World Cup match between Cape Verde and Uruguay later on Sunday will turn into a big family reunion after Vozinha's mother resolved her visa problems to support her son in the stadium in Miami.

The goalkeeper, 40, said he was missing his mother after a starring role in the debutants' drawing 0-0 with European champions Spain in their opener. His tears after the game became a viral sensation.

US and FIFA officials made bringing his mother over a priority.

"I want to thank all the fans, everyone who helped in the process, for the support you gave to the team, especially to Cape Verde," Ana Candida Evora said in a video published by football governing body FIFA.

"We're all rooting for Cape Verde to play well, to shine on the pitch. The players need to have faith and everything will go well. Keep your heads held high, go onto that pitch, push for a goal, and you'll perform beautifully, my boys."

Vozinha's father and brother will also be in the stadium.

He said: "This is very important for me. Because everyone in my family always supports me in everything. Having them here is something special for me. I am very happy. My father and my brother will also be there."
