IPOH: Rumours swirling on the future of Perak FC striker Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor (pix) were finally put to rest when the management of ‘The Bos Gaurus’ agreed to retain the services of the former national player to play in the Super League next season.
Perak FC chief executive officer Bobie Farid Shamsudin said the 32-year-old player was expected to sign an official contract by mid-November at the latest, after agreeing to the conditions set by the team management.
“We are satisfied with the performance and contribution of Wan Zack to the team throughout this season.
“We also hope that he can continue to maintain his performance and contribute to the success of the team for the league competition next season,” he told Bernama today.
Previously, Wan Zack was reported to be poached by several Super League teams, but he insisted that his priority was to continue his service with the squad coached by Yusri Che Lah.
The Maran-born striker has recorded 21 appearances with Perak this season, scoring four goals and making several assists.
Meanwhile, Bobie Farid said all Perak FC’s import players would continue to serve with the team, with their contracts set to expire only at the end of next season.
Commenting on Perak’s plans for next season, he said the process of searching for new players to strengthen the team would begin after the Super League competition ends in mid-December.
“At the moment we don’t want to rush to get new players, especially since there are still three games left in the Super League.
“But we can guarantee that players will be brought in to strengthen Perak’s position in the Super League competition. That is one of our targets for next season,” he said.
In the meantime, he said the management was also satisfied with the achievements of The Bos Gaurus this year which saw Perak FC remain in the Super League as well as qualifying for the semi-finals of the Malaysia Cup. -Bernama
