Designed to spotlight Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage, the map features 40 iconic dishes from across the country and over 160 eateries, ranging from legendary hawker stalls to hidden gems in small towns.

With food tourism on the rise where spending on food and beverages in Malaysia shot up by 52% in 2024, the app rides on the smooth sailing trend in order to help the world find out about the culture here.

Not only about just food, redBus also offers monthly promotions to drive traffic by providing bus ticket discounts for the foodie road trips.

Available on both the redBus app and a dedicated microsite, the map offers a real-time, dynamic interface that allows users to explore regional specialties influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian, Peranakan, and indigenous cultures. And it’s not just a one-way street – redBus is inviting Malaysians to get involved by crowdsourcing recommendations, with contributors getting their names featured on the platform itself.

Prakash Sangam, CEO of redBus, shared that the Malaysia Food Map represents a new chapter for the company, saying it aims to “play a deeper and more meaningful role in travel discovery,” and is a tribute to “the rich history of the country and the passion which Malaysians bring to discovering and exploring food trends.”

As the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign gathers momentum, redBus’ initiative looks to be a tasty boost for local tourism, especially among travellers hungry for authentic bites. Whether you’re after char kway teow in Penang or nasi kerabu in Kelantan, this tool brings Malaysia’s flavours to your fingertips.
