Warehouse and house razed in separates cases

TAWAU: A warehouse storing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) barrels was 80 per cent destroyed in a fire on Jalan Sin Onn, at 6.55pm, last Friday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Chief, Jemishin Ujin, said they received a distressed call at 7pm via Mers 999.

A team of 17 officers and members along with four machines was deployed to the location, some 10km away from the station.

The building was 80 per cent damaged.

Jemishin said the operation ended at 7.35pm after ensuring there was no other safety risks at the location.

No casualty was reported. Investigations into the losses and cause of the fire are still ongoing.

In NABAWAN, a family in Kg Malampoi was left impoverished when their house was destroyed in a fire at 8pm, the same day.

Keningau Fire and Rescue Department Zone Chief, Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Haji Juatan, said according to reports from its Chief Operating Officer Senior Officer (PgKB II) Kenneth Wilfred and Sook Fire and Rescue Department Chief (PBTII) Faisal Ahmad, they received a distressed call at 8pm via Mers 999.

A team of firefighters from Sook led by Operating Officer PBKII Shahril Sulaiman rushed to the scene 38km from here.

The operation ended at 10.06pm.
