A total of RM3.5 million has been raised so far under the 2025/2026 Warriors Fund Campaign, surpassing its initial target of RM3 million

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM3.5 million has been raised so far under the 2025/2026 Warriors Fund Campaign, surpassing its initial target of RM3 million, said the campaign’s patron Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The wife of the Prime Minister said the amount was collected through contributions from various parties since the welfare campaign was launched in August last year.

“We have collected more than RM3.5 million, but with prices (current costs) increasing, we need to adjust the target again. However, what is needed is continuous donations to keep pace with the current situation,” she told reporters after the My Warriors Run 2026 charity run here today.

In this regard, Dr Wan Azizah urged the public to continue contributing and paying attention to the welfare of veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), as their welfare needs continue to grow with age.

“What we need are continuous donations. As these veterans grow older, they require greater care and concern.

“We should never forget the services they have rendered to the country and the peace we have enjoyed all this time. We live in comfort because of them, and they deserve to be recognised and appreciated,” she said.

On the charity run, Dr Wan Azizah expressed appreciation for the support of various parties, particularly the corporate sector and media practitioners, who helped raise public awareness.

A total of 3,000 participants from various walks of life took part in the run, which was among the initiatives aimed at raising funds for the Warriors Fund Campaign.

The seven-kilometre run, themed around togetherness and appreciation, started and ended at Dataran DBKL, covering routes around the city centre, including Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Dang Wangi and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

The campaign is a key initiative of the government and the ATM Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV) to raise welfare funds to assist needy ATM veterans and their families.
