Convocation ceremonies are often steeped in tradition, with every element carefully curated to maintain a sense of formality and prestige. One of these long-standing traditions is the use of gamelan music, a staple background tune typically played as graduates walk up to receive their scrolls.
However, the IPMA 2025 Grand Convocation broke away from the norm and turned heads with a rather unexpected musical selection. In a video uploaded by TikTok user @dsinspire, clips from the ceremony revealed a soundtrack that no one saw coming. As graduates made their way across the stage, familiar yet unconventional tunes filled the hall, setting a lighter, more playful tone.
