A video showing a man threatening motorists with a samurai sword at a petrol station in Kedah went viral on social media. In the 31-second video, posted by Twitter user with the handle @mynewshub, the man was seen brandishing the sword while arguing with several motorists at a petrol station in the Gurun rest and recreational area.

Based on the posting, the man appeared to be angry that he was reprimanded for using the phone while driving. "Because (we) honked at him for using a phone while coming out of a junction, he chased after us until the Petron (petrol station) and took out a samurai (sword)."

The armed man was also seen hurling threats and demanding an apology from the driver who had honked at him. Several motorists were spotted trying to calm him down as the person recording the video asked the petrol station staff to contact the police.

It was unclear what happened next as the clip ended abruptly. The video which surfaced on Twitter has garnered about 1.1 million views, with netizens urging for strict action to be taken against the man for endangering other road users with his unruly behaviour.

"That weapon alone can land him in a minimum of 5 years (in jail). Minimum. That does not include the threats to bring harm," user @famiejamil said.

User @Bellaayusof said: "Keeping (a weapon) in the car is already illegal, let alone brandishing them in public.

"It's getting worse in Malaysia. Everyone just wants to act like thugs," says user @Meriazenidaaa.
