A daredevil couple who got engaged on top of the Empire State Building following a 1,454ft climb were arrested after descending.
Upon reaching the top of the iconic building, Russian nationals Angela Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Beerkus, 32, unfurled a banner which read: “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace."
Beerkus then proposed to Nikolau as they descended to a lower level.
Body camera footage released by the NYPD on Wednesday (1 July) shows an officer climbing up to the pair, who have conducted similar stunts across the world, and telling them “you can’t be up here”.
They were then taken into custody. A statement from the force read: “There are no reported injuries. Charges are pending, and the investigation remains ongoing.”
