
(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Water and power service interruptions will hit several areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces from May 28 to 31 due to maintenance, upgrading of facilities and relocation work.
The Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Company, Inc. annouced the affected areas.
In Quezon City, portions of UP Campus, Kamuning, Sacred Heart, Pansol, Kalusugan, Old Capitol Site and Culiat will be affected by temporary water interruptions from 10 p.m. on May 28 until 4 a.m. on May 29 because of line maintenance works in various locations.
Parts of Forbes Park in Makati City will also experience service interruptions during the same period due to line meter replacement works at Banyan corner McKinley Road.
In Rizal province, portions of Rodriguez, Taytay and Cainta will undergo water interruptions beginning Thursday night because of line meter replacement, crossover and step testing activities.
Meanwhile, portions of Barangay Maybunga in Pasig City will be affected from 10 p.m. on May 29 until 4 a.m. on May 30 for line meter replacement works along Jennys Avenue corner F. Legaspi Avenue.
Several areas in Manila and Caloocan City will likewise experience water service interruptions from May 28 to 29 due to network repair and leak repair activities.
Affected areas in Manila include Barangay 504, 514, 620 and 622 to 625; Barangay 610, 612 to 614, 616 and 619; and Barangay 356 to 362.
In Caloocan City, Barangay 4, Barangay 12, 28 and 35, several barangay in Grace Park West, and Barangay 168 and 171 will also be affected by repair activities.
The water concessionaires advised affected residents to store enough water ahead of the scheduled maintenance and repair activities.
Meanwhile, the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal from May 28 to 31.
In Manila, portions of Binondo and Tondo will experience power interruptions between 11:45 p.m. on May 28 and 4:45 a.m. on May 29 due to reconstruction and installation of facilities along Padre Algue and Sanchez Streets.
Areas affected include portions of La Torre, Padre Algue, Sanchez, Alvarado, Benavidez, Masangkay and Luzon Streets, as well as several schools, residential buildings and commercial establishments.
Also on May 28 to 29, portions of Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City will undergo power interruptions from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for the installation and replacement of facilities along Garnet and Topaz Roads in Ortigas Commercial Center.
In Cavite, portions of Barangay Salawag in Dasmariñas City will experience service interruptions from 11 p.m. on May 28 until 4 a.m. on May 29 due to the relocation of a pole affected by a Department of Public Works and Highways road widening project.
Parts of Binangonan, Rizal will likewise be affected from 11:30 p.m. on May 28 until 5:30 a.m. on May 29 because of facility relocation and line reconductoring works along J.P. Rizal Avenue in Barangay Calumpang.
The activity will coincide with line maintenance works by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines along the Batangas-Taysan 69-kilovolt transmission lines.
On May 29, portions of Barangay Baritan, Concepcion and Muzon in Malabon City will undergo a power interruption from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for upgrading, installation and replacement of facilities along A. Reyes and Karilagan Streets.
Also on May 29, portions of Barangay Tabing Ilog in Marilao City, Bulacan will experience a power interruption from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. due to relocation of facilities along M. Villarica Road.
Meanwhile, portions of Barangay Tandang Sora, Sauyo and Talipapa in Quezon City will experience service interruptions from 11 p.m. on May 29 until 5 a.m. on May 30 for line reconductoring works along D. Muñoz Avenue in Barangay Tandang Sora.
On May 31, portions of Bocaue and Balagtas in Bulacan will be affected by a power interruption from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to give way to line maintenance works inside the Intercity Ricemillers Industrial Compound in Barangays Wakas and San Juan.
Meralco advised affected customers to take the necessary precautions during the scheduled maintenance activities.
