Water treatment plant to be built in Pitas village

Kota Kinabalu: A mini Integrated Water Treatment Plant (Solar IoT) will be built in Kg Lok Dangkaan, Pitas.

Sabah Baitulmal Corporation (PBNS) Chairman, Datuk Dr Omar Raisul As-Salam Syah Sulaiman Omar, said the plant with a production capacity of 30,000 litres per day would benefit 300 villagers.

“The collaboration between PBNS and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) began during the implementation of the clean water treatment plant project in Kg Pituru and Kg Mengkapon, Pitas in 2019 through a fund channelled from the National Inter-Agency Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Unit (Laksana) amounting to RM289,714 which is a Solar IoT development project in Kg Lok Dangkaan, Pitas.

“The plant in Kg Pituru supplies 20,000 litres of water a day which benefit approximately 100 villagers and 60,000 litres for 500 residents of Kg Mengkapon.

Meanwhile, UMS Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Kasim Mansur said, among other things, the signed LOI aims to obtain funds to implement knowledge transfer activities to the community, especially in Sabah.

Also present were Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Ruslan Muharam; Chairman of Nur Jauhar Foundation, Datuk Al-Hambra Juhar; PBNS Chief Executive Officer, Dr Awang Faisal Assyifa Ag Rahim and the Dean of FSSA UMS, Professor Dr Jualang Azlan Gansau.
