Despite being a Newcastle player for nearly three years, he only has 36 appearances to his name.
The Northern Ireland star wants to play regularly and is willing to drop down to the Championship.
For their part, Newcastle are eager to let him go, as they are targeting a new right back in Southampton's Tino Livramento.
