In a recent interview with Malay Mail, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Kamal, the chief of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s Youth wing, addressed the plateau in Malay support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) and emphasized the urgent need for the coalition to rehabilitate its image among non-Malay communities. He acknowledged that while conservative politics had garnered support from Malays in the past, it was insufficient to propel the coalition forward. Wan Ahmad Fayhsal expressed a desire for PN to demonstrate inclusivity and shed the perception of racism and intolerance that has been associated with the coalition.

Highlighting the importance of engaging with non-Malay voters, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal stressed that PN must convince them that the coalition is not biased and can represent their interests effectively. He recognized the challenge of altering perceptions but emphasized the necessity of doing so to broaden PN's support base.

Regarding recent controversies, such as the "Allah" socks issue, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal indicated that PN's response aimed to address concerns adequately. However, he acknowledged that perceptions among non-Malay voters could influence their support for the coalition.

Looking ahead to the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal saw it as an opportunity to initiate conversations and win over non-Malay voters. He underscored the importance of effective communication and transparency in conveying PN's policies and plans for governance.

Acknowledging shortcomings within PN, particularly in its shadow Cabinet, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal admitted that performance had been subpar. He stressed the need for improvement in research, argumentation, and policy formulation to enhance the coalition's effectiveness.

Despite these challenges, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal commended Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin for his efforts to elevate the quality of debate among PN's federal lawmakers. He expressed optimism about the future performance of first-term MPs, expecting improvements in parliamentary sessions to come.

The Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, prompted by the passing of the seat's incumbent, presents a pivotal moment for PN to demonstrate its commitment to inclusivity and effective governance.
