IPOH - MCA leaders and members have been cautioned against becoming complacent or overly excited by the party’s early gains, with its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong stressing the need to maintain momentum ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).
He said party leaders at all levels needed to demonstrate strong commitment by providing excellent service to the people in preparation for GE16.
"The strength of a political party directly provides added value and an advantage in political manoeuvring and future coalition negotiations,” he told reporters after attending the closing ceremony of the MCA Election Training Workshop at MH Hotel here today.
The workshop, attended by more than 200 division-level leaders, was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar and State Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
On preparations for the Melaka state election, Wee said any specific discussions on seat allocation among BN component parties would only be finalised after the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.
The current assembly’s term ends in December. - BERNAMA
