National doubles shuttler Man Wei Chong focuses on knee rehab for the Badminton Asia Championships, with recovery taking precedence over tournament ambitions.

NATIONAL men’s doubles shuttler Man Wei Chong is refusing to set major targets for the upcoming Badminton Asia Championships (BAC).

His immediate priority is recovering fully from a right knee injury sustained during the All England Championships earlier this month.

Wei Chong confirmed that initial medical advice indicated surgery was not required. He expressed hope that the injury would not recur or hinder his performance in Ningbo, China.

“Now the most important thing is to take care of the condition, take care of the rehab, strengthen my muscles,” he said after a training session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia.

He stated that his tournament preparations are progressing smoothly according to plan. His partner, Tee Kai Wun, has been a crucial source of moral support during this period.

Wei Chong said this support has helped him maintain focus and confidence ahead of the competition. He praised his partner’s understanding and on-court coverage.

“So far, progress has been pretty good,” he added. “I think my partner is also good because he can understand my situation.”

With one week of preparation remaining, Wei Chong vowed to give his all at the tournament. His primary goal remains ensuring his knee is fully rehabilitated.
