
Ruthie Henshall has opened up on her romance with Prince Edward, revealing that it was “never going to work”.
The West End icon had an on-off five-year relationship with the royal, after first meeting in 1988 when she was starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.
Appearing on Sunday Brunch on Sunday (2 August), the 59-year-old discussed her new memoir, The Showgirl and the Prince, which details the pair’s romance.
Host Tim Lovejoy described it as “the impossible relationship”. He explained: “He’s a prince and you’ve got a great career, it could never really work, could it?”
“No. It was never going to work,” she agreed, as she spoke about the complexities that come with being involved with the royal family.
