After a difficult start to life under Graham Potter, West Ham have strung together two important wins, 1-0 against Arsenal and 2-0 against Leicester, to pull themselves 10 points clear of Wolves in 17th. They have not won three straight Premier League games since December 2023. Goals from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave The Irons a comfortable victory at St James’ Park in November and, given that ninth-placed Newcastle have lost three of their last five Premier League games, the hosts will be optimistic about completing a league double tonight. To compound Geordie misery, they will be without Lewis Hall and Sven Botman due to long-term injuries whilst Anthony Gordon serves the first game of a suspension that will see him miss Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. The only silver lining for Eddie Howe is that 19-goal Alexander Isak should return to the side after having his minutes managed in recent week.
