In spite of his average run of form over the past few months, Collin Morikawa is still one of the biggest stars on the PGA Tour.

Morikawa won for the first time on the PGA Tour since October 2023 earlier this year at Pebble Beach.

However, the 29-year-old Californian suffered a back injury just one month later at TPC Sawgrass on his very first hole of The Players Championship.

Collin Morikawa has continued to play on the PGA Tour despite the pain he is feeling, and he will surely return to his best once he has completely recovered from his back issue.

While Morikawa isn’t part of the Player Advisory Committee, he undoubtedly would have been sounded out for his opinion ahead of the changes that Brian Rolapp will be implementing on the PGA Tour in 2028.

Rolapp announced that there will be two tiers of tournaments on the PGA Tour from 2028 onwards – The Championship Series and the Challenger Series.

All of the Championship Series events will have a minimum of 120-man fields with halfway cuts, no sponsor exemptions under any circumstances and a minimum of $20 million purses.

What Collin Morikawa has heard from PGA Tour players about planned changes

Earlier this month, Morikawa admitted the idea of 120-man PGA Tour Signature Events with halfway cuts really excites him.

Now he has got his wish after Rolapp’s announcement on Tuesday.

The two-time major champion made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show to discuss numerous hot topics in the world of professional golf right now.

Morikawa responded when asked whether he has heard any negative feedback from his fellow PGA Tour players about the PGA Tour changes which will be brought into play in 2028.

No, no, no, and you know, I think there hasn’t been as much talk amongst us players as you might think, and I think that’s a good thing, the 29-year-old admitted.

And I think that shows these changes are for the better.

Obviously we’re making a lot of changes for the fans and I hope the fans are going to enjoy it at the same time.

You’re going to see a lot of us compete against each other a lot more with slightly bigger fields, with cuts, like things that are natural to the game of golf.

And that’s all, you know, positives.

Planned PGA Tour changes are hugely exciting

Rolapp’s plan is incredibly impressive.

Fans wanted halfway cuts in every event they watch. From 2028 onwards, there will be real jeopardy in every single tournament.

Relegation and promotion will also be in play between the Championship Series and the Challenger Series.

As golf fans, we will get to see the very best golfers in the world compete against each other on a more regular basis.

Brian Rolapp has absolutely nailed it with his proposed plan for the PGA Tour, and the players clearly seem to be on board with the incoming changes.
