The Arnold Palmer Invitational put Bay Hill Club and Lodge on the map, turning it into one of golf’s best-known venues.

The Arnold Palmer family took over the course in 1974, and five years later, it became the home of the iconic tournament.

The event has long been a marquee stop on the PGA Tour circuit, and its reputation only increased with Tiger Woods’ record eight victories.

Bay Hill also became widely known thanks to video games such as EA Sports’ PGA Tour franchise (formerly Tiger Woods PGA Tour), which included “The King’s” place every year.

Bay Hill operates as a private club, so you can’t just book a tee time and head out onto the course. Access is more restricted compared to public venues.

To play, you’ll either need to be accompanied by a member or book an overnight stay at the lodge, which is the more common route for most visitors.

Lodge stays typically range from $250 to $500 per night, with rates varying based on the day of the week and season.

Each night at the lodge gives you access to one round on the Challenger and Champion nines, which together form Bay Hill’s main 18-hole layout.

Green fees for this 18-hole round can vary significantly. According to GOLF.com, it’s about $100 during summer but can climb as high as $500 in peak season between January and May. The Charger nine remains under $100 year-round.

Caddies are recommended and cost around $100 plus gratuity. There are discounted rates available if you’re playing in groups of two or four.

If you’re looking to save some money, there are packages online that bundle golf with accommodation at reduced rates.

Bay Hill membership: Fees and perks

The other way in, aside from staying at the lodge or knowing a member, is to join the Bay Hill Club and Lodge yourself.

According to Golf Monthly, the initiation fee sits around $30,000, with yearly dues adding up to roughly $8,000.

That membership doesn’t just get you access to the courses. It also covers tennis, fishing, the spa, and the fitness centre.
