Sergio Garcia’s fiery temper once again got the better of him during the final round of The Masters on Sunday.
Garcia posted rounds of 72, 75 and 74 during the first three rounds of The Masters and he was well down the leaderboard heading into the final round.
The fiery 46-year-old Spaniard has a bad history of being unable to control his temper.
And Garcia‘s poor behavior reared its ugly head once again at Augusta National on day four of The Masters.
Garcia was criticised by golf fans for his behavior at The Masters after he smashed his driver into the perfectly manicured tee on the second hole following a poor drive.
The 2017 Masters champion then broke his driver shaft after smashing it into a water cooler.
There have even been calls for Garcia to be banned from The Masters after his flagrant display of disrespect.
What Masters official told Sergio Garcia after his behavior at Augusta
Augusta National is a golf club that strictly upholds their long-standing list of rules and traditions.
Any kind of poor behavior is strictly forbidden.
Robert MacIntyre was given a dressing down by Masters officials after he smashed his club into the ground twice during his first round and flipped up his middle finger to the cameras.
Now Garcia has been given a similar talking to.
According to golf journalist Doug Ferguson, Garcia was immediately spoken to by Augusta National officials after his angry outburst.
“Geoff Yang, the chairman of the competition committee, spoke to Sergio on the 4th tee and gave him a code of conduct warning,“ Ferguson said on his X account.
Really, Garcia is lucky to have escaped with a code of conduct warning.
The type of behavior he displayed on the second tee box at Augusta National has absolutely no place in the game.
Sergio Garcia’s Masters behavior is nothing new
The problem with Garcia is that he has history of doing these kinds of things.
The LIV Golf player did exactly the same thing at The open Championship at Royal Portrush last year.
He was warned about his conduct in 2017 at The Open as well, after lashing out at a gorse bush with his club and subsequently injuring his shoulder.
Meanwhile, he was disqualified from the Saudi International in 2019 after causing serious damage to a green after an angry outburst.
Garcia is 46 now. He really should have grown up and learned to control his anger out on the golf course.
Unfortunately for him, he clearly hasn’t been able to do that.
Sergio Garcia’s display of petulance at The Masters was as selfish as it was uncalled for.
