Matt Fitzpatrick has been paired with Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland for the first two rounds of the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.

Fitzpatrick played against DeChambeau in the Sunday singles at Bethpage Black last year, and what a match it was.

The 31-year-old Englishman was up big early on in the match and was five up on the American through seven holes.

However, Bryson DeChambeau quickly turned the tables on Matt Fitzpatrick.

The LIV Golf star won five of the final 11 holes to tie the match with the European.

Now the two players will be trying to get the better of one another once again, this time at Shinnecock Hills in the US Open.

The Englishman and the American will tee off alongside Hovland at 1:25pm local time on Thursday and 7:30 am on Friday.

Fitzpatrick wants Shinnecock Hills to play as difficult as possible this week at the US Open.

DeChambeau may not be thinking the same thing, what with his high ball flight.

However, they will both be extremely competitive as they always are, regardless of how they actually play.

Back in September Fitzpatrick responded when asked by reporters what he thought of DeChambeau’s exuberant behavior during their Ryder Cup singles clash.

He responded by praising the LIV golfer, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.

“He was fine. Bryson’s character, he’s got a lot of energy, Fitzpatrick said.

You get in that environment with the home crowd, I think it was very helpful to get off to a great start. To be up so early was helpful at that point just to keep the crowd not really on his side as such.

Was kind of much more tame. But no issues with Bryson. I knew what he was about, and that’s what excites the fans over there and that’s great.

“There were no issues. It was obviously a good match. I wish it ended a little bit differently but in the end it was a half-point.”

Matt Fitzpatrick and Bryson DeChambeau pairing is so fascinating

Fitzpatrick and DeChambeau could not be more different.

DeChambeau is loud, brash and bullish, while Fitzpatrick is quiet and unassuming.

The American is the longest hitter in the game and goes full out on every driver swing.

Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick is a lot more strategic and plots his way around golf courses with impressive precision and patience.

The two golfers are genuinely like chalk and cheese.

However, that is what makes their pairing so interesting.

They say that opposites attract, and it will be fascinating to watch the differing strategies of Matt Fitzpatrick and Bryson DeChambeau at Shinnecock Hills this week.
