The golfing world was stunned when Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf in December of last year and returned to the PGA Tour just weeks after.

Koepka has had to start at the bottom since returning to the PGA Tour.

The 36-year-old had to make a $5 million payment to charity and was told that he would not be eligible to play in any Signature Events, nor would he be eligible to receive FedEx Cup bonus money.

Brooks Koepka took the deal offered by the PGA Tour, although Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cam Smith all chose to remain with LIV Golf.

Most PGA Tour players were happy to see Brooks Koepka back, but there must have been a fair few who were disillusioned by the whole situation.

Koepka has shown signs that he’s close to rediscovering his best form since making his return to the PGA Tour, but he hasn’t put everything together at the same time just yet.

It will click soon; there’s no doubt about that, and once it does, Koepka will be eating at the top table on the PGA Tour once again.

PGA Tour said to have insulted Brooks Koepka

Koepka is still yet to play a Signature Event since returning to the PGA Tour.

He was first alternate at the RBC Heritage, but didn’t get in and the same thing happened at the Cadillac Championship last week.

This week, Koepka is playing at the Myrtle Beach Classic, while the PGA Tour’s best players are competing at the Truist Championship.

And according to Mark Lye, Koepka has been insulted by the PGA Tour by not being allowed to play in the Signature Events.

The one-time PGA Tour winner took to his X account on Thursday and criticized the PGA Tour for their handling of the Koepka situation.

Brooks playing at Myrtle Beach instead of Quail Hollow is an insult of the highest magnitude. PGA Tour is a ruthless POS organization, enough said, Lye stated.

What an incredibly bizarre take that is from Lye!

Mark Lye’s take on Brooks Koepka and the PGA Tour is so wrong

Firstly, and this is very important, Koepka was not forced into taking the deal from the PGA Tour.

He chose to leave LIV Golf and come back to the PGA Tour.

He was also well aware that he would have to earn the right to play in the biggest events again.

Secondly, Koepka was very lucky to be handed the deal that he was. He made the choice to leave the PGA Tour four years ago.

What message would have been sent out had the 36-year-old been allowed to return to the PGA Tour consequence free?

Numerous PGA Tour players who rejected moves to LIV previously would have been seriously unhappy, that’s for sure.

The PGA Tour have played the Brooks Koepka situation perfectly, despite what Mark Lye may have you believe.
