England will play Mexico in a World Cup dripping with narrative at one of the most iconic grounds that soccer has to offer.

To say that Thomas Tuchel’s team are walking into the lion’s den would clearly be an understatement.

It is a daunting challenge in the Mexican capital, even if England look like slight favourites in terms of genuine quality.

The build-up to the game was cast in chaos when FIFA considered dramatically changing the kick-off time for Mexico vs England.

No such decision was actually taken, however, and the kick-off time remains the same. Here’s everything you need to know.

Mexico vs England to kick-off at 6pm CST, 1am BST

Indeed, the match will kick-off at 6pm CST, which is 1am BST in the UK.

That means it will kick off at 5pm PT, 6pm MT, 7pm CDT and 8pm ET in the United States.

There is reportedly a chance, however, that the kick-off time could be affected by adverse weather conditions.

Though FIFA decided against actually moving the kick-off time, Sky Sports suggest there’s still a chance that adverse weather could come into play.

There is reportedly a 90% chance of lightning around the stadium around kick-off time, which could delay matters for both England and Mexico in the huge World Cup game.

Strict regulations mean that matches must be halted if lightning is detected within eight miles of the stadium. If a lightning strike does happen, there will be a 30-minute countdown before the match can resume.

Should a lightning strike happen during that countdown, the timer will be reset to zero.

France’s group stage game against Iraq in Philadelphia was delayed by two hours for exactly that reason, while similar things happened during the FIFA Club World Cup which was played in the United States last summer.
