- An adult has died from measles in England, marking a grim milestone as confirmed cases continue to climb across the country.
- This latest fatality, of a person with an “underlying immunological problem”, follows the deaths of two children from the highly contagious virus in June.
- The UK Health Security Agency reported 883 confirmed measles cases in England from the start of the year to 6 July.
- The first symptoms of measles include a runny or blocked nose, high temperature, cough, and sore red watery eyes, followed by a rash a few days later and sometimes white spots in the mouth.
- Anyone who thinks they or their child has been exposed to measles should ask for an urgent GP appointment or call NHS 111.
