On any given evening, Capitol Café is known for its kopi, toast, and old-school charm. Last Thursday, however, the Bukit Bintang institution traded its usual crowd for celebrities, tastemakers, and beauty insiders as YSL Beauty transformed the beloved kopitiam into the city’s chicest party.
As part of its globally recognised Block Party series, YSL Beauty took over Capitol Café for a one-night-only celebration that brought together beauty, nightlife, music, and Malaysian culture under one roof. The event welcomed a crowd of celebrities, tastemakers, media personalities, and creators, all dressed in signature YSL black.
Among the notable faces in attendance were YSL Beauty Malaysian ambassador Meerqeen, alongside Azira Shafinaz, Angel of DOLLA, Nadhir Nasar, Alicia Amin, Nia Atasha, Jane Chuck, Jestinna Kuan, and members of Midnight Fusic.
What made the evening particularly memorable was its distinct local touch. Rather than opting for a conventional event venue, YSL Beauty transformed a familiar Malaysian setting into the place to be seen. Guests were welcomed with a roti bakar and kopi station, while product discovery moments were integrated throughout the venue, creating a playful intersection between everyday rituals and luxury beauty.
The night also marked the official launch of YSL Beauty’s TikTok Shop in Malaysia. Hosted by Amelia Henderson, a livestream offered viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the festivities, spotlighting celebrity arrivals, beauty moments, and some of the brand’s hero products.
At the centre of the celebration was the new YSL Lovenude collection, a matte lip range designed to deliver a soft-focus, blurred effect. Leading the launch are the YSL Lovenude Lip Blusher and the YSL Lovenude Kiss Shaper, a pairing created to achieve the effortlessly defined nude lip look that continues to dominate beauty trends.
And what’s a party without music? Homegrown DJs including Jovynn, Athina Kamarudin, Roshan Menon, Maya Letisha, and Joee, soundtracked the night from start to finish.
