Kota Kinabalu: Some 298 nurses from throughout nation including from private sector attended “Sabah West-Coast Medicolegal Nursing Conference 2025” organised by the Sabah

Women and Children Hospital Nurses Education Association, in collaboration with the Sabah State Health Department. The conference was to enhance nurses’ knowledge and understanding of medico-legal issues, including medical ethics, professional responsibilities, and potential legal actions.

Sabah Health Director Dr Maria Suleiman delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the significance of legal considerations in nursing practices. Her speech was read by representative, Dr Mohd Yazir Adam Mohd Husin.

“This conference is a space for dialogue, learning, and sharing. Nurses are not only caregivers but also advocates, witnesses, and sometimes, key players in legal proceedings.
