Kota Kinabalu: Amanah Perpaduan Sabah President Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing said there is need for proper strategy and scheme for raising paddy cultivation.
Welcoming the planned revival of the Sabah Padi Board, he noted that the first announcement was made almost two years ago, but nothing happened since.
He, therefore, urged the Government to make a comprehensive study of the land bank in the State so that a detailed acreage suitable for paddy cultivation can be identified.
“The underlying reasons for the declining local production of rice in the state must be scrutinised and a comprehensive road map prepared plus definitive action taken to tackle the potentially dangerous situation,” said the former Deputy Chief Minister.
