On 12 August, a total solar eclipse will sweep across Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain, while a partial eclipse will be visible across much of Europe.
Maximum totality will last up to 2 minutes and 18 seconds. In the UK, up to 95% of the Sun will be obscured as the eclipse unfolds close to sunset.
"It could be over 200 years" before the same location experiences another total solar eclipse, according to astronomer Jake Foster.
Anyone planning to watch the event should wear ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses to protect their eyesight.
