SELAYANG – A video showing a group of individuals believed to be Rohingya nationals gathered at a public park in Taman Wilayah, Selayang, has gone viral on social media.
Uploaded by influencer Awie MBR, better known as Abang Koroy and shared on Threads, the video shows more than 30 people at the park at one time.
Some of them were seen playing football, while several families appeared to be having picnics and children were seen playing on the slides and other playground facilities.
The video has since sparked questions among social media users over the use of the public amenities, particularly amid concerns over the large number of people gathering at the park.
"If the whole village is here, where are the locals supposed to play?" the caption in the post read.
The post drew mixed reactions from social media users.
Among them, Threads user @abewee1 commented, "I feel sorry for our people and kids who can't use the public facilities. It had become like their territory."
Another user, @wanfa__, said, "This was where I used to play when I was little. Now it's just their crowd, it feels like being colonised in our own homeland."
The post received thousands of likes alongside numerous comments and reposts from Threads users. Awie also claimed that public facilities are increasingly being dominated by foreign nationals.
Meanwhile, the video only shows the condition at the public park and does not provide further details regarding the status or exact purpose of the individuals gathered at the location.
