And just like that, Easter is already just around the corner. Whether you’ll be celebrating in church or on an Easter egg hunt, there’ll be many events in Kuala Lumpur where you can enjoy the festive spirit. If you’re looking for the right event for you, here’s where you can celebrate Easter in KL this coming weekend!

In Christian circles, Easter Sunday is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he was crucified to death. In Catholic circles, the celebrations go as far back as the Sunday prior to the week of Easter, known as Palm Sunday. It is also common for those in the faith to commemorate Good Friday, the day Jesus was tortured and crucified.

Easter traditions we know today, such as Easter egg hunting, come from the account of Jesus’ resurrection. Eggs were a symbol of life and rebirth, and the empty tomb of Jesus. The hunt for Easter eggs was meant to honour Mary and the widows’ search for Jesus’ empty tomb. Easter eggs would eventually become a commercialised dessert, accompanied by an anthropomorphic Easter bunny as their mascot.

In Malaysia, many in the Christian faith will attend Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. However, those not in the faith can also enjoy various Easter egg hunt activities set up by malls and brands across KL. Whether it’s a search for Easter desserts or indulging in a classic Easter Sunday roast dinner, everyone can enjoy Easter in KL this weekend with these selected events.
