Recently, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) insisted that the event they raided in Kelantan was a ‘gay sex party’. Meanwhile, a coalition of NGOs and individuals denied the account and stated it was a health event meant to educate and spread awareness on HIV.

Following this, the Health Ministry (MOH) and its Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, shared their support for the NGO that organised the event while stressing their stance that health events are important.

Who is telling the truth?

According to a report by Harian Metro, opposition MP, Datuk Ahmad Saad (PN – Pokok Sena), is demanding an explanation from the government regarding the gathering that was raided, and brought up the contradicting statements from MOH and PDRM.

“I would like to get the Ministry’s response regarding the recent arrests at a gay party because there are contradictory statements regarding the program, which is strange. A clash between MOH and PDRM.”

“In other words, who is really telling the truth? Or, who is lying?”

“The Kelantan state police confirmed that there was no involvement of NGOs, health clinics or MOH during the event. In fact, officers from NGOs or the Ministry’s own agencies did not appear,” he said.
